The First International Cultural Festival Opens in CNU

April 9th witnessed the opening of the First International Cultural Festival of CNU. Guests from Consulate General of the United States in Chengdu were present at the ceremony including Mr.Haymond, the U.S. Consul General in Chengdu, Ms. Wu Jiali, Vice Cultural Consul, Ms. Zeng Zhen, Senior Cultural Assistant. The opening ceremony also saw the attendance of Mr. Zhang Hui, Vice President of CNU, Ms. Li Yang, Director of International Office, Mr. Yu Zhenhan, Dean of the Information Technology and Business Management Department, as well as leaders, teachers and students from different faculties. The opening ceremony was hosted by Mr. Yu Zhenhan.

Professor Zhang Hui, Vice President of CNU addressed on the opening ceremony. Firstly, Mr. Zhang extended a warm welcome towards guests from Consulate General of the United States in Chengdu, and appreciated all the distinguished guests for their support to our First International Cultural Festival. He pointed out that this event was an important measure to promote the internationalization of CNU, and CNU would make more efforts to strengthen communication and cooperation with U.S. universities, so as to build a broader international communication platform for students in our university.

Mr. Haymond, the U.S. Consul General in Chengdu delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. Mr. Haymond praised China as the world's second largest economy and a country with a long cultural history. Sino-US exchanges and cooperation in various fields have played an important role to both countries even to the whole world. This International Cultural Festival held by CNU offered a good opportunity to mutual understanding and communication between the two countries. He also said: "Now we've entered an international world, we strongly support such kinds of communication. I hope to see more and more international activities held by CNU.”


Finally, Professor Zhang Hui, and Mr. Haymond awarded prizes and certificates to winner students in the LOGO design contest for CNU’s First International Cultural Festival.
